ANKE HUMPERT
Anke Humpert is a true mixed media artist; some have even described her as a Renaissance person! Since early childhood, she has been working with any medium that she lays her hands on. In her teaching she offers to help her students to find their own voices. She offers her unique projects, but encourages everyone to try out their own ideas! Her passion as a teacher is to enable her students (of all age groups) to become more confident in using their own voices.

Anke’s work is very intuitive and multi layered. Her interests are especially in working with polymer clay, paper arts, painting, stamping, art journaling, and bookbinding. She likes to incorporate used and found objects in her art. She prefers to use her own made tools and likes to go into depth with her techniques. She also likes quirky things and you can often find little funny twists in whatever she does.
Anke is a fully qualified architect, who studied at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin, Germany. Her training was very free and encouraged her to find her own path. She has written several books about polymer clay and stamping in German, been published in various international magazines and online, has been on German TV with her polymer clay work, and teaches workshops national and internationally (including in Germany, the USA, England, Spain, Austria, and Serbia). She teaches in German and is fluent in English. Since 2010 she has taught online classes, which have opened up a new worldwide audience for her teachings. As a trained public speaker and leader, she loves to work with groups. She has worked together with a number of fellow artists on various collaborative projects. At the moment she is preparing for her first appearance in a well known polymer clay gallery in the United States.

This project is a young, fresh and urban take on working with polymer clay that will surely make a lasting colorful impression. Anke shows you how to make a bold show-stopping pendant complete with graffiti-inspired letters featuring colorful canes that look like they were just tagged with a few cans of spray paint. Anke’s technique produces results that are amazingly life-like and 100% legal!

Anke’s “Game Piece Charms” (Make-&-Take) 30-Minute Class
Learn Anke Humpert's technique for making game piece charms in a very short time. Do you love Tic-Tac-Toe, Mah-jongg or Dominoes? Then this class is “game on” for you! The “game piece” charms can be an adornment for your mobile phone, handbag or journal, or, if you make two, turned into earrings. This quick and easy technique creates surprisingly realistic looking game pieces. If you like it with a bit more of a personal touch, that is also an option that can be achieved.

creating daily - day 27 till 42

 ....it has been much to long since I updated you on my creating daily progress. It is not the progress it self, but the documenting that I sometimes struggle with. So before the load gets to heavy I just fill in the things I did so far and before the next load will be ready for documenting...;-))
My dear friend Tejae brought me some new art material, when we meet rather briefly at the Pareworld. One of my new toys is a gelli plate...and I really love it!!! So for day 27 I did some gelli printing.

 Day 28: Another stamp idea from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer´s Stamp book: a triangle repeat stamp.

Day 30: I loved the stamp from day 29 so much, that I did a little book cover with it.

 Day 31: shrink plastik paper plaine earrings from this book:

 Day 32: zentangle

 Day 33: some new polymer clay earrings. I used the earrwires I had made earlier for them.

 Day34: triangle stamp and patterned paper printed with it.

  Day 35: square stamp and patterned paper printed with it.

 Day 35: shrink plastik paperboat earings.

 Day 36: I used some of my gelli prints to start working in my art journal with them.

 Day 37 + 38: more art journaling on the same pages.

 Day 39: started working on a binder for my art supply.

 Day 40 + 41: Gelli printing on tags and ATCs.

 Day 42: gelli prints on deli paper regular paper.

creating daily - day 17 to 26

...I know, I know I am a bit behind with posting my progress. I have been away over the weekend, at the "Paperworld" fair in Frankfurt. I have been demoing for Polyform Products and I had a blast. It was really cool but at the end of the day you are tiered and don´t feel like doing much. So I am a bit behind and I will try to get back on track right now:

 on day 17 I decorated some of my clips with washi tape. Not a big deal, but they do look a lot different and so much more fun...;-)

 Day 18: playing with grids and patterns in my sketchbook.

 Day 19: I had this cardboard letter "A" for some time already and I could not decide how to decorate it. Since I am a lot into maps right now this was a perfect choice!

Day 20: I am not sure where I have see something similar to this, (could have been on "a beautiful mess") but I really like the idea of adding some bright colour to the rim of a wooden box and putting it on wheels!

 Day 21-23: okay, this is not really a small daily project, but I ran a bit out of time! I really wanted to make a piece of jewellery that I could wear while being at the show. I totally love the new silk screens from Polyform Products and printing with them! So I did select that and use the printing technique for this polymer clay necklace. And I was working on more than one day on that!

 Day 24: I love decorating envelopes and with these ones I used some washi tapes and used some of my carved stamps, too.

 Day 25: I have been out with a friend and we where drinking a glass of wine each. I really loved the look of a glass of white and a glass of red on the table. So I sketched that.

 

Day 26: Another stamp idea from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer´s Stamp book: an arrow stamp! There are so many cool ideas in this book, I am sure there will be more coming up !

Okay, so much for today. More creating to do today...;-))

 

Anke goes America

.... only two more days before I will o to the Synergy 3 conference in Atlanta, U.S.A. I am soooo exited an I can hardly wait! There is still quite a bit to do, before I have everything done to be prepared, of course. And that also was the reason, why I have been so quite and no posts where done. Sorry for that! I needed to set priorites!
Nur noch zwei Tage und dann gehts los: zur Synergy 3 nach Atlanta, U.S.A. Ich bin schon sooooo aufgeregt und kann es kaum noch erwarten. Nicht das ich nichts mehr zu tun hätte bis dahin, das ist ja wohl klar! Das war auch der Grund, warum ich mich hier so rar gemacht habe und es keine Posts mehr gegeben hat. Tut mir Leid, aber ich mußte mich einfach auf das Wesentliche konzentrieren!

Apart from preparing my own speech I also created some new pieces, that will be sold at the conference, or donated towards the auction or that I will just show off for my own pleasure! ;-)) The pictures show my favourite pieces.
Ausser das ich meine eigene Rede vorbereitet habe, habe ich auch einge neue Schmuckstücke gefertigt. Die werden bei der Konferenz käuflich zu erwerden sein, oder bei der Auktion versteigert oder einfach zu meinem eigenen Vergnügen vorgezeigt und ausgetragen werden. Aus den Bildern könnt ihr meine Lieblingsstücke sehen.

I have been wanting go to the U.S. for more than 30 years (hard to believe, but true!) and so I decided it is no good to just go for a conference and then come back at once! I would not see much from the country apart from what is going on in the conference rooms. Don´t get me wrong! I am looking forward to this event a LOT, but I wanted to see and do some more! So after Synergy is over, I will see one of my dearest friends and stay with her for some time and have a look around! Ahhhh sooo good! ;-))
Ich wollte schon seit über 30 Jahre (kaum zu glauben, aber wirklich war!) in die U.S.A. reisen und daher kam es natürlich gar nicht in Frage nach der Konferenz sofort wieder zurück zu kommen. Ich werde dort sicher kaum was von Aussen mitbekommen und das war mir dann doch etwas zu wenig. Ich freue mich wirklich sehr auf die Synergy, aber ich wollte auch noch wirklich was von diesem Land mit bekommen! Daher werde ich nach der Konferenz noch eine ganz liebe Freundin besuchen und einige Zeit bei ihr verbringen. Ich freue mich schon sooo sehr darauf! ;-))

I will come back with my head and heart filled with new impressions and ideas, new contacts and fresh insights and what is better that that?
Ich werde mit neuen Impressionen und Ideeen, neuen Kontakten und Einsichten in meinem Kopf und meinem Herzen zurück kommen. Und was ist schon besser als das, nicht war?

....new books, earrings and lifes ramblings

I know, I know it has been far too long since I have shared something with you the last time. After our summer holidays I had the best intentions to update my blog and write regularily again. But actually in my life nothing ever goes according to plan! I mean somethimes I even wonder why the heck I plan at all, it seams such a waste of time. And the last two weeks have been a real helter skelter, good and bad and it did really make it difficult for me to keep on track!

Ich weiß, ich weiß es ist schon wieder viel zu lange her, das ich das letzte Mal geschrieben habe und etwas mit euch geteilt habe. Nach unseren Sommerferien hatte ich auch wirklich die besten Intentionen und wollte sofort weiter bloggen. Aber manchmal hab ich das Gefühl, in meinem Leben funtioniert das einfach nicht mit "nach Plan". Manchmal glaube ich, es ist so schlimm, das ich mich eigentlich schon wunder, das ich überhaupt noch plane! Es kommt mir oft wie reine Zeitverschwendung vor! Und die letzten beiden Wochen waren wirklich eine Achtebahnfahrt ohne gleichen, im Guten wie in Schlechten. Und sowas macht es mir wirklich schwer meine Pläne zu verfolgen!

 I was looking forward to have my new book on the table when coming home, but it was not there! I had no idea why not and I had to investigate. It was only a minor hick up at the printers, but it made my book come out two weeks late. Well, I can live with that. But what really knocked me down was, that I had to learn that one of my colleges, who had been working on that very book with me for half a year, had died the previous week. I was completty struck by that news and paralized for at least a week. She was quite a bit younger than myself and she leaves a husband and a young daughter. I will miss her a lot and I will always remember her positive, lively ways! I am so sorry, that you did have to go, K.M.K...!!!

Ich hatte mich schon darauf gefreut mein neuestes Buch bei meiner Rückkehr auf dem Tisch vor zu finden, aber es war nicht da! Keine Ahnung warum eigentlich nicht und ich mußte erst nachforschen. Es war nur eine kleine Verzögerung beim Drucker, aber dewegen kam mein Buch mit zwei Wochen Verspätung raus. Naja, das kann ich ganz gut verkraften. Was mir aber wirklich den Boden unter den Füßen weggezogen hat, war, das ich erfahren mußte, das eine meiner Kolleginen, mit der ich genau an diesem Buch das letzte halbe Jahr zusammen gearbeitet hatte, die Woche vorher verstorben war. Ich war völlig fertig von diesen schlimmen Neuigkeiten und in der Woche danach völlig unfähig einen klaren Gedanken zu fassen. Sie war einiges jünger als ich selbst und hinterlässt einen Mann und eine junge Tochter. Ich werde sie sehr vermissen und mich immer an ihre positive, lebhafte Art erinnern! Es tut mir so Leid, das Sie jetzt schon gehen mußten, K.M.K....!!

Yesterday I got my second book, in Czech and in Slovakian!! It is really funy to have your own book in a language that you do not read, but I am very happy that I have it here and it will be sold in two more countries!
Gestern habe ich mein zweites Buch zugeschickt bekommen, aber ich Tschechisch und Slovakisch!!! Es ist schon sehr lustig das eigene Buch in Sprachen vor sich zu haben, die man noch nicht einmal ansatzweise verstehen kann! Aber ich bin glücklich darüber, das es hier ist und das es in zwei weiteren Ländern verkauft wird!

Yes, and there are all the other projects, I have to pick up again und continue working on, like the 52 earrings challenge, developing new tutorials and projects, preparing the next workshops and speeches, some more translations and of course to more art work!!!
Ja und dann gibt es natürlich auch noch all die anderen Projekte, die ich wieder aufnehmen möchte und weiter führen will, wie die "52 earrings challenge", neue Tutorials und Projekte, die entwickelt werden wollen, den nächsten Workshop und die nächsten Reden vor zu bereiten, neue Übersetzungen und natürlich mehr Kunst machen!!!!

Oh and I am also busy planing my trip to the U.S. next spring and try to figure out the best way how to get from here to there and what I should do while I am there. I am pretty exited about it! Visiting the U.S. has been on my dream list for years and years now, and I can not believe I am finally that close to actually do it!

Oh und ich bin auch schon gut damit beschäfftigt meine Reise in die U.S.A. im Frühling zu planen, raus zu finden, wie ich am Besten von A nach B komme und was ich alles machen möchte, wärend ich dann da bin. Ich bin schon ganz schön aufgeregt! In die U.S.A zu reisen ist schon soooo lange auf meiner Wunschliste gewesen und ich kann es kaum glauben, dass es nun doch endlich wahr wird und gar nicht mehr so lange hin ist!

And the next big thing for me is my son leaving home!!! It is only a couple more days until he is packing his things and leaving for Australia!!!! It does feel very strange to let him go! I can not belive that he is ready and old enough to do such a big adventure. But I guess that is the way all mothers feel, when their first born goes out into the world! 

Ja und der nächste große Brocken steht mir schon bevor: mein Sohn geht von zu Hause weg!!! Nur noch ein paar wenige Tage und dann packt er seine 7 Sachen und geht nach Australien!!! Es fühlt sich schon seeeehr komisch an, ihn einfach ziehen zu lassen! Ich kann es irgendwie noch nicht glauben, dass er soweit ist, sowas zu tun und alt genug ist, um so ein großes Abenteuer allein zu bestehen. Aber ich vermute mal, das alle Mütter sich so fühlen, wenn das erste Kind sich auf macht und in die Welt hinaus zieht!
