Nikolaus Stiefel - Saint Nicolas boots

This is what we usualy do here in Germany:
on the night from the 5th to the 6th of December it´s Saint Nicolas eve. The kids have do get their boots clean and put them outside ( we only put them near the front door, since we live in the middle of the city...;-) ) and if they have been good kids, they get a little present and some sweets. If they have not been so good they get a twig ( with sweets hanging on it...;-). Since my husbands name is Nicolaus, he gets something in his boots, too.
I always have weired things in my boots, because they mostly forget the " Nikolaus" behind this: this year I had a broken chocolate Nikolaus and a book I already have* rollingeyes*
