Art-Lab: Tyvek ( for ABEurope)
for ABEurope ( AlteredBooksEurope - yahoogroup) I joined a project called Art-Lab. Its about finding out about a certain material or technique. My job is to find out a bout Tyvek. I got some little envelopes made of Tyvek and I had not heraded about it before...so I though that might be an interessting project. I stared searching and found out quite a bit. Tyvek in art is not that widly know, but it is a meterial used on buildingsites and for other techniqual things. It is very light weight and very strong. i have not stred making my own experiments, but I have found some good links!!! Here they are:

'Bonding and Beyond' Jan Beaney & Jean Littlejohn has a chapter on Mixed Media Bonding using Tyvek (also known as fibre film). It has been around in England for quite some time; I experimented with it a few years ago. I think I have a piece somewhere in which I used it for texture on a ploughed field. Good luck with your research.
